★〜about this level, this much, this many,

私の財布さいふはこれくらいの大きさです。　

My wallet is about this big.

びっくりするくらいうるさかった。　

　It was surprisingly noisy.

★ minimum level

あいさつぐらいなら、フランス語で言えます。　

I can say some greetings in French but that’s about it ( minimum level)

自分の部屋へやぐらい自分で掃除そうじしなさい。

You should clean your room by yourself. ( at least it’s your own room )

〜きる　N3の文法　Vますform( drop ます）きる

★ action completely finished, 全部、完全に〜する　

こんなに大きいパンケーキ、一人で食べきれないよ。

I can’t finish such a huge pancake by myself

兄はフルマラソンを走りきった。

My brother finished the full marathon.

★ there is nothing left 何ものこっていない

疲つかれきってすぐに寝てしまいました。　← I was exhausted so went to bed right away. ( no energy left )

〜かける、かけだ　N3の文法

★action is not complete 全部ぜんぶ終わっていない、という意味です。

①　action still in progress (half way)

読みかけの本を机つくえに置いて、食事に出かけた。

I put the book I was reading half way on the desk and went out for a meal.

② about to do

彼女は何かを言いかけてやめてしまった。

She was about to say something but she stopped talking.

※ There are some exceptions.

昨日知らない人に話しかけられた。

Yesterday I was spoken to by a stranger.

**話しかける：means talk to someone, start talking (to someone), to address

**呼びかける：to address, to appeal

おかげで／せいで　N3の文法

友だちが手伝ってくれたおかげで宿題が終わった。
I could finish my homework because my friend helped me ( gave me help.)

せいで
★bad result, because of
コロナのせいで旅行に行けない。
Because of the covid, we can not travel.
雨が降ったせいで試合しあいが中止になった。
Because of the rain, the game was cancelled.

うれしいときには、「おかげで」を使ってください。悪い結果けっかや、残念ざんねんなときは「せいで」を使います。

いくら〜でも／〜ても　N3の文法
★ no matter how…
いくら安くてもその店で買いたくない。
安い→関係ない it doesn’t matter how cheap it is →買いたくない！
いくら高くてもその車が欲しい。
高い→関係ない it doesn’t matter how expensive it is →欲しい！

たとえ〜ても／でも　N3の文法
★even if….
たとえ安くてもその店で買いたくない。
もし安くても（安くない or わからないけど）→買いたくない！

Even if it’s cheap, I don’t want to buy it at that store.

たとえ高くてもその車が欲しい。
もし高くても（高くない or わからないけど）→欲しい！

Even if it’s expensive, I want to buy that car.

**いくら安くても→程度（level)
**たとえ安くても→もし( if )

**happened or not
いくら練習してもできない。＝たくさん練習した→でもできない。
たとえ練習してもできない。＝もし練習しても（まだしてないけど）→できない。

〜うちに　N3の文法
★１：while, during ≒ あいだに
毎日日本語を勉強しているうちに上手になった。
My Japanese got better by studying it everyday. (while I was studying everyday)
ポッドキャストを聞いているうちに寝てしまった。
I fell asleep while I was listening to the podcast.

★２：While, **before the condition changes

明るいうちに家に帰ろう。
While 明るい, let’s go home.→ before it gets dark
明るくない→家に帰るのはたいへんだな、むずかしいな、いやだな。

日本にいるうちに沖縄おきなわに行ってみたい。
While I am in Japan, I would like to go to Okinawa. →before I leave Japan
日本にいない→沖縄に行けない、行くことが難しくなる。

冷さめないうちに食べてくださいね。
While さめない, please eat them.→before it gets cold
冷さめる→おいしくなくなる。

今教えている学習者のみなさんにN3、N4のレベルの方が多いので、しばらくN3レベルの文法を解説かいせつしていきたいと思っています。
